We provide innovative strategies to prepare for a better future medical and healthcare system.
HeM.Lab’s primary focus is on developing strategies for future healthcare by utilizing the structure and functions of the healthcare system to respond to the rapidly changing healthcare landscape.
Our main research topics include healthcare management and health policy through convergence research.
MAIN RESEARCH AREAS
With constant changes as a result of technological advancement and transformation to a patient-centered medical system, new healthcare medical services such as telemedicine, digital healthcare, and digital therapeutics become increasingly important and, as a consequence, in need of study and inquiry. We conduct research on the healthcare management systems to improve the quality of life and outcome of healthcare deliveries by recognizing the perspectives of patient-centered health care. It aims to identify strategy using the concept of business management and methodologies via providing efficient healthcare services, and analysis of the environment and structure of the medical industry.
Research areas include strategic management, the healthcare industry (medical devices, digital healthcare, pharmaceuticals), organizational management, human resource management, performance analysis, and healthcare service quality.
Health policy emphasizes an integral aspect of the healthcare system including living environment and healthcare access rather than therapeutic approaches only. New healthcare policy is required to prepare for the consequences associated with rapidly growing the elderly population resulting in changes in disease structure, health inequality, health insurance coverage, etc. We conduct research on health policies and health systems in social and administrative aspects aiming at achieving efficient health management by deriving the direction of sustainable health care policy with our in-depth expertise and inclusive knowledge.
Research areas include health promotion policy, long-term care, community care, medical expenses, health behavior, unmet medical care, and medical insurance.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution and digitization have ushered us into a new era of creating new values. We conduct convergence research to challenge the limitations of existing knowledge and to solve the facing problem of the health care system. With the exploring precision medicine approaches for better predictive and preventive health management, medicine, humanities and social sciences, policy, business administration, AI, and big data were adapted in convergence research. Ultimately, we aim to improve the overall health of individuals in the population by strengthening the preventive health management system.
Research areas include preventive medicine, primary care, disease prediction models, chronic disease management, patient-physician communication, and medical data/panel data analysis.
The aim of our lab is to contribute to nurturing future generations of researchers and those who are engaged in creative problem-solving approaches to produce effective solutions in the medical industry in cooperation with various academic fields. Our team consists of various students and researchers from different academic backgrounds including healthcare management, public health, medicine, public administration, arts, medical informatics, and statistics, all aiming to push forward novel policies and strategies for the purpose of a better future healthcare environment.
We are looking for passionate prospective researchers who want to pursue their dreams in the medical field through convergence research.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research scientist to work on (1) healthcare management, (2) public health, (3) medical informatics, and (4) machine learning.
If you have a strong background in at least two of the fields mentioned above, please send a merged PDF of your CV, contact information of two references and a brief statement of research interests, and PDFs of your three best papers to and please note ‘[AJOU postdoc]’ in the subject line.
Graduate Students Position
Full-time students receive scholarships and living expenses and are working on a project and studying at the same time. If you are interested in PhD or MS-PhD courses in our lab, please contact us 3 months before application by sending a merged PDF of your cover letter, CV of your undergraduate to Please note ‘[AJOU graduate]’ in the subject line.
